Overview The API nexx Base Filter is ideal for the beginning aquarist. Media replacement takes under 4 minutes and only needs to be performed every 2 months. Its easy-to-use design allows filter maintenance without disconnecting the hoses or turning it off. When it is time to disconnect, the ergonomic handle and tightly sealed lid prevent spills. Filtration never stops, even when you’re removing one of the 2 filtration modules. The auto sliding filtration dose allows more hygienic operation, there’s no need to touch a dirty cartridge.
Unlike most canister filters, the unique design of the nexx Filter ensures all water flows through the filter with no bypass, resulting in crystal clear water. The nexx Filter uses size 4 API Bio-Chem Zorb cartridges. The API nexx is a silent external filter. Instead of being gravity fed like most canister filters, it uses a submerged pump to push water towards the filter. Place the filter above or below the water level and priming is not needed.
The modular design allows extensions to adapt the filter to your tank’s needs. Adding one extension meets the needs of a 110 gallon tank, at 153 gph, and adding two extensions meets the needs of a 165 gallon tank, at 165 gph.
This filter is perfect for the ecologically minded consumer. It’s recyclable and only consumes 11.5 W.
