Instructions If desired, briefly rinse substrate in (preferably) purified water prior to placement in aquarium system to remove dust. The substrate may be employed in a number of applications, however, in each case it is recommended that the total depth of substate not exceed 2 inches. To determine the approximate amount of substrate required for a given container (e.g. aquarium, refugium or sump) multiply the inside length and width of the container (inches) by the desired depth of substrate (inches), then multiply the result by 0.05.
For example, a refugium with internal dimensions of 18 inch x 12 inch and desired substrate depth of 2 inches: (18 x 12 x 1) x 0.05 = 10.8 lb. Note: this is an approximate value and that the final results may vary slightly from calculations performed.
