A protein skimmer is one of the most important pieces of filtration equipment in existence for marine aquariums, regardless of whether they are full-blown reef aquariums or simple fish tanks; indeed, a protein skimmer can in many cases be considered “life-support” equipment. The waste exported by a protein skimmer helps maintain water quality at a level at which the fishes and invertebrates can survive and thrive. A protein skimmer is in essence a reaction chamber in which a mixture of water and very fine bubbles are injected. The purpose of these bubbles is to adhere to dissolved and particulate organic matter in the water column (which come from fish and invertebrate waste, tapwater, uneaten food, and many other sources) and remove it by forcing this material up through a column and into a waste receptacle, which is emptied as needed by the hobbyist. Overall, the features and benefits of the Nautilus TE will make quite a positive difference to your marine aquarium system.

Instructions:
To assemble the Nautilus TE, you will need to install the clear flexible tubing between the pump exhaust and the water input elbow on the input assembly. Slide one end of the clear flexible tubing onto the upmp exhaust and secure with the provided tube clamp. Next attach the air-intake tubing to the Turbo-Educator by sliding one end over the air-intake port. Install the Turbo-Educator fitting by sliding it over the pump intake port, so that the longer side of the Turbo-Educator butts up against the pump. Secure the free end of the tubing to the water-input tube using the cable tie provided. Place the pump and Nautilus TE protein skimmer in the sump, ensuring that the pump intake is completely submerged. After you have plugged the pump in and water is flowing through the unit, observe the input tubing connection for any leaks. The Nautilus TE may need a few minutes to several hours of steady operation before it begins to "break-in" and remove organics from the system.
