Nuisance algae loves phosphate! Phosphate
is regularly introduced into the aquarium through fish waste and the
decomposition of fish food. High levels of phosphate promote algae growth, which
can affect the appearance of your aquarium as well as compete with other animals
for nutrients.
Test for phosphate with the Red Sea Mini Lab test kit. Quick, simple, with easy
to read results, this Mini Lab will let you know when to do partial water
changes to rid your tank of excess phosphate.
Instructions:
Fill test tube to 12 mark. Add 8 drops of solution A, replace test tube cap and
mix gently. Remove cap and add 2 drops of solution B. Replace cap and mix
gently. Compare results to chart. Phosphate should be as low as possible, with
0.3 ppm being the absolute allowable maximum.
