Instructions Attach the strainer to the intake tube extension. Connect the intake tube extension to the intake tube assembly. Install the filter cartridge and Bio-insert. The Bio-insert should be postioned closest to the aquarium, it provides a large surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow. Hang the filter onto the frame of the aquarium. Turn the level adjuster to proper position and level the filter. For the filter to function properly, the water surface must not be below 1 1/2" from the top of the aquarium. Make sure the water flow adjuster is fully opened. Fill filter box with water until power unit is completely submerged. Insert the power supply cord into the plug AC adaptor. Plug AC adaptor into a standard 120V electrical outlet.
Note: Do not force polarized plug into non-polarized outlet. Use of a GFCI is recommended.
Place the filter box cover on the filter box. Turn the water flow adjuster to obtain desired flow. The filter will pump 80 gph at full flow. Turn the water flow adjuster for desired flow. Exhaust flow should break the surface of the water slightly. As the surface is agitated, better gas exchange occurs and oxygenation increases.
Replace filter cartridge every 2-4 weeks.
