Trace Elements Test Kits
Marine reef aquariums need to be tested for the same water parameters as any aquarium, but you also need reef elements test kits to monitor the additional trace elements you supplement, so you can replace them when needed. If you have a heavy bioload, you may need to use reef elements test kits more frequently as they will be depleted faster.
Calcium is the most important element, absorbed by invertebrates to create beautiful skeletal structures; boron, magnesium and strontium must also be present for proper calcium absorption and processing to take place. Iodine and iodides are your other major concern, as they are responsible for the coloration of your invertebrates and deficiencies lead to unsightly bleaching.
