High levels of copper are toxic to freshwater and marine fishes and invertebrates. Salifert's Copper Test Kit is an extremely sensitive and accurate detector of dissolved or weakly chelated copper in water with a pH of 7.5–9. Copper is often found in tapwater, and it is a common parasite medication - always test tapwater for the presence of copper, and test while medicating with copper.
Salifert's Copper Test Kit lasts for several copper cures or 50 routine tests on tap or aquarium water, and features bold colors for easy to read results. Can be used in freshwater or marine aquariums.
Instructions:
Fill test vial with 2ml of water
Add 5 drops of CU liquid reagent & swirl gently for 5 seconds
Allow to stand for 10 minutes. Some copper medications might use strongly bound copper and require a waiting time of 20 minutes. If in doubt compare the value after 10 and 20 minutes of waiting. The highest value should be noted.
Hold the test vial in front of you. Place the white part of the color chart firmly against the side of the test vial and look from the opposite side.
A blue tinge lighter than the 0.1 ppm value corresponds to approximately 0.05 ppm.
A color between 2 color bars indicates a copper value in between those 2 values.
