Aquarium Wave Makers and Water Deflectors
Ocean fishes and reef organisms need multi-directional turbulence to thrive. Correct water movement encourages proper exercise for marine fishes, keeps immobile corals and inverts clean of deadly sediment, distributes trace elements and food evenly and pushes waste to skimmers and filters to keep water conditions healthy.
In reef and saltwater aquariums, turbulence is your goal. Electronic aquarium wavemakers alternate power to your powerheads to mimic ocean currents. (Only use with powerheads that are wavemaker compatible.) Or use water flow diverters to modify any powerhead's output. Never aim currents directly at invertebrates, and avoid creating erosive salt spray at your tank's surface.
